Tuckahoe Creek Park to expand by almost 21 acres
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County has announced that Tuckahoe Creek Park will be expanding by almost 21 acres thanks to land donations from The Wilton Companies.
On Monday, April 14, county officials gathered at 1128 Westbriar Drive -- the future trail access point -- to officially recognize the new expansion.

The park currently occupies around 240 acres of space for recreational walking, fishing and birdwatching.
"We're having a community meeting on Thursday to talk about final drawings and get community input on what this will look like," said Jody Rogish, the Henrico Board of Supervisors member for the Tuckahoe District. "But the plans would potentially be a boardwalk, from here to around the Lakewood Retirement Community, so that people can actually utilize and see what a beautiful, pristine park this is at Tuckahoe Creek."
According to officials, the newly acquired land has a long history of coal mining, railways and other key infrastructure that will be preserved with educational landmarks throughout the space.
