Two dogs and several cats rescued from kitchen fire in Chesterfield home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two dogs and several cats were rescued by firefighters from a kitchen fire in a Chesterfield County home early Tuesday morning.

At 3:18 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews responded to a call for a house fire in the 21300 block of Hampton Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in the kitchen. Officials said crews marked the fire under control in less than 30 minutes.

Two adults were reportedly home at the time and were able to get out safely. In addition, firefighters rescued two dogs and several cats from inside the home.

The displaced homeowners are reportedly being assisted by family members.
