Two men arrested in Colonial Heights apartment breaking and entering, third suspect at large

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- Two men were arrested after they were caught on camera breaking and entering a Colonial Heights apartment complex on Monday evening. Police continue to search for the third suspect.
At about 7:25 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, officers with the Colonial Heights Police Department responded to in progress at Colonial Court Apartments, located in the 900 block of Westover Avenue.
According to police, a resident of the apartment complex who was out of state at the time contacted police after they saw several suspects inside their apartment through a live video surveillance camera inside their apartment.
Police arrived, saw two people fleeing form the apartment and initiated a foot pursuit.
A suspect, 20-year-old Rashawn Lane, of Richmond, was taken into custody.
When canvassing the area for the second suspect, officers found a vehicle with various items which police believe were reported stolen by the caller, according to the Colonial Heights Police Department.
The second suspect, 25-year-old David Chieffo, of Henrico County, was located, arrested and taken into custody after police said he returned to the scene and initiated a second foot pursuit -- with the assistance of Chesterfield County Police Department.
Lane is being charged with felony, breaking and entering, two counts of felony grand larceny, two counts of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor eluding.
Chieffo was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony grand larceny, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, felony conspiracy to commit grand larceny and misdemeanor eluding.
According to police, both men were processed and taken to Riverside Regional Jail, where they were held without bond pending their next court appearances.
Additional charges are pending.
