Two men face murder charges after 31-year-old shot, killed on Coalter Street

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond man and a South Carolina man are both facing individual murder charges after a 31-year-old man was shot and killed on Richmond's Coalter Street in late May.

At around 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1300 block of Coalter Street for a reported person down.

When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old K-Ron Washington, down on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.

Washington was taken to a local hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

According to police, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, officers announced the arrest of two men -- 32-year-old Michael Caballero of Richmond and 32-year-old Brian Jackson of Lexington, South Carolina -- in connection with the May shooting.

Caballero and Jackson have been arrested and charged with murder and use of a firearm, according to police.

Officers said Caballero was arrested by the U.S. Marshals on Sept. 11 and served with indictments on Sept. 30, while Jackson was arrested in Newport News by the Newport Police Department on Aug. 19. He was served with indictments on Aug. 20.
