Two people found shot dead during Albemarle welfare check

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were found shot dead when conducting a welfare check in Albemarle County's Covesville area on Wednesday, with authorities calling the deaths "suspicious."

On Wednesday, Sept. 24, officers with the Albemarle County Police Department were called to the 5500 block of Windward Cove Road in Covesville to conduct a welfare check.

When they arrived, they found the homeowners -- 77-year-old Dennis Miller and 76-year-old Frances Hooper-Miller -- inside the home with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on the initial investigation, authorities believe this was an isolated incident. No further details are available as of the time of reporting.
