University of Richmond recognized for Peace Corps volunteer efforts
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The University of Richmond (UR) was recognized for its alumni's volunteer efforts in the Peace Corps.
The University of Richmond came in at No. 5 on the Peace Corps' 2025 Volunteer Producing Colleges and Universities list in the top small schools category, according to a UR press release.
The Peace Corps is a federal organization that sends volunteers to countries in need of support in areas like agriculture, economic development, education, health and more.
Since the Peace Corps' founding in 1961, over 160 of UR's alumni have served abroad with the organization, with seven currently serving. They are stationed in countries like Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, the eastern Caribbean, Tanzania and Zambia.

“At the University of Richmond, we are deeply committed to preparing students not only for successful careers but also for meaningful lives of service and global impact,” said Damon Yarnell, associate provost for career development at UR, in the release. “Our strong showing in the Peace Corps rankings reflects the values our students carry with them throughout their lives, and we are proud of our alumni who choose to serve in this way.”
