VDOT to lift lane closures ahead of holiday travel
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In an attempt to avoid holiday traffic disruptions, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced upcoming temporary suspensions of highway work zones and lane closures.
The suspensions will take place for interstates and other major roads throughout Virginia during the following time periods, per a VDOT release:
- From noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24 until noon on Friday, Dec. 26
- From noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31 to noon on Friday, Jan. 2
Although lane closures will be lifted in many locations, motorists may experience semi-permanent work zones that remain in place during the listed periods.
