Vehicle crash on I-64 caused delays in New Kent

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle crash on Interstate 64 westbound caused delays in New Kent County on Wednesday.

Just before 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-64 westbound at the 219-mile marker.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), there are currently four miles of delays.

State police said traffic came to an abrupt stop, and the driver of the truck started to brake. This caused the truck's load of rolled aluminum to shift.

The driver ran off the road to the left and into the tree line.

There are no reported injuries, according to police.

Two trucks cleand up the aluminum rolls.

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, all lanes are now open and the scene is clear.
