RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Several teaching artists from the Greater Richmond Region will be joining the Virginia Commission for the Arts' (VCA) new cohort.

The organization on Thursday, Jan. 8, announced its teaching artists roster with artists and performers from across the state spanning a variety of artistic industries. Among them are three from the city of Richmond and Henrico County.

The artists accepted into the VCA program are recognized for "their artistic expertise and ability to deliver high-quality instruction across diverse learning environments." They also receive grants to lead workshops and engage learners as educators, per the release.

Amelia Rafle is a Richmond-based faculty member at Virginia State University and Randolph-Macon College. She teaches the art of printmaking, bookbinding, copperplate etching and collagraphy.

Genna Beth Davidson is a Henrico-based puppet artist who teaches puppetry performance, design and fabrication. Davidson's workshops also include shadow puppetry, road and sock puppet creation and custom puppet design.
