Virginia Department of Forestry offers free riparian forest buffer installations

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Forestry is offering free riparian forest buffer installations for landowners to help improve water quality throughout the state.
The Riparian Forests for Landowners (RFFL) program offers free installations alongside a year of maintenance. Landowners, HOAs and civic leagues are encouraged to apply.
The forests contain specialized native trees and shrubs planted along waterways that help reduce erosion and create habitats for wildlife species.
