Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources’ Richmond Falcon Cam to return
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Falcon Cam, a livestream that follows the breeding season of a peregrine falcon pair that nests in downtown Richmond, will return on Monday.
According to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, the Richmond Falcon Cam will return on Monday, March 10.
The Richmond Falcon Cam is placed across from the nest box on a ledge of the West Tower of the Riverfront Plaza building in downtown Richmond.
According to officials, peregrine falcons are monogamous, mating at a site with the same individual until that individual dies or moves away.
The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources reported that different falcons have nested at the site throughout the years, with a pair of falcons breeding in downtown Richmond in 2003. However, the current pair as of 2021 is male 59/BM and female 95/AK.
Last summer, a total of four eggs were laid by 95/AK, which reportedly made 2024 the fourth year in a row the falcon had laid a clutch of four eggs.
