Virginia ranks 13th best state to find a job in 2025: WalletHub study
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- When looking for places to work across the country, the Old Dominion might not be the first to come to mind for most people around the United States. But a new study by WalletHub suggests that Virginia is the 13th best state to find a job in 2025.
The study compared the 50 states across 34 key indicators of job-market strength and economic health to determine the best places to work.
Ranking as one of 11 states in the top 20 in both the job market and economic environment categories, Virginia finished 13th overall.
The study additionally ranked Virginia fifth in terms of the number of job opportunities offered in the state.
“Living in one of the best states for jobs can provide stable conditions for the long-term, helping you ride out the fluctuations that the economy will experience in the future,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said. “The best states for jobs make it easier for residents to find and retain jobs, and employers in these states also offer very competitive compensation and benefits. In addition, the top states are great places for people looking to raise a family, ranking among the best states for working parents.”
The states at the bottom of the rankings include Oregon (46), Alaska (47), Kentucky (48), Louisiana (49) and West Virginia (50).
