Virginia State Police seize over $10 million worth of narcotics in one week
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police seized over $10 million worth of narcotics in its ongoing statewide investigation last week.
From Wednesday, Jan. 7 to Wednesday, Jan. 14, state police, who partner with supporting federal and local agencies, seized 62 firearms and 2,055.6 pounds of narcotics, valued at $10,688,935.
The following is a breakdown narcotics:
- 2 ounces of crack cocaine
- 2,019.2 pounds of marijuana
- 2.6 pounds of methamphetamine
- 7 pounds of psilocybin
- 26.5 pounds of ketamine
- 1.3 ounces of fentanyl
- 600 THC vapes
- 7.3 pounds of THC consumables
Police received eight new human trafficking tips, bringing the total number to 1,461.
According to police, they have investigated and are currently investigating 214 human trafficking cases.
"The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime," state police wrote in a release. "By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities. "
