Virginia State Police seize over $8 million worth of narcotics in one week

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In its weekly crime suppression initiative, Virginia State Police troopers seized more than $8 million worth of illegal narcotics in one week.

From Wednesday, Oct. 29, to Tuesday, Nov. 4, the operation, which is a partnership with local and federal agencies, seized 2,082 pounds of narcotics valued at $8,430,529.

Per state police, the following is a breakdown of the recovered narcotics:

  • 2.3 pounds of cocaine
  • 1.7 pounds of crack cocaine
  • 2,025 pounds of marijuana
  • 7.1 ounces of heroin
  • 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine
  • 2.4 ounces of fentanyl
  • 85 THC Vapes

Two explosive devices were seized, according to state police.

During the week, troopers also received nine new human trafficking tips, totaling 1,318. According to authorities, there are 208 cases either being investigated or currently under investigation. Police said 3,472 individual investigative activities are currently underway, with 75 victims identified and offered service.
