VMFA website gets first major refresh in 12 years
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) website has gotten its first major refresh in 12 years, according to a spokesperson.
The VMFA website is reportedly visited by more than 1.5 million users each year, and a spokesperson said the work of overhauling the site began more than two years ago.
The museum reportedly sought input from board members, donors, staff, VMFA members, educators and the general public before making changes.
"Based on invaluable insights from those listening sessions, branding and digital design firm AREA 17 — whose clients also include the Art Institute of Chicago, the Getty Museum and the National Gallery of Canada — redesigned the website to be art-forward and fun to navigate," a VMFA spokesperson said in a release.
The site’s new calendar interface reportedly makes events and programs easier to find. The refreshed site has a consolidated repository of articles, videos and other resources.
A spokesperson said the website was developed with accessibility for all in mind.
