WalletHub ranks Richmond as a top summer travel spot

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Want to know the best U.S. cities for summer travel? Well, Richmond ranks in the top 20 for Best Summer Travel Destinations, according to WalletHub.

Recently, WalletHub released its 2025 list of Best Summer Travel Destinations, and Richmond ranked No. 13 overall. The rankings were based on key factors like travel costs, activities and attractions, weather and safety.

Richmond stood out for its affordability and variety of activities to do -- earning a total score of 60.79. The following is a breakdown of Richmond's rankings in WalletHub's summer travel report:

• Local costs: 60

• Weather: 51
• Activities: 24

The top three spots on the list went to Orlando, Atlanta and Washington, DC.
