Water bursts from Henrico road during ‘utility issue’

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Water was seen bursting from a Henrico roadway Tuesday afternoon in what police said was a utility issue.

At 1:49 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Henrico County Police Division announced that officers were on the scene of a utility issue near the intersection of Pemberton Road and Grand Oaks Drive.

In a photo captured by police, water was seen bursting upward from the road next to two excavators, with a large pool of water covering part of the road.

As of reporting, Pemberton Road was closed in both directions between Oakley Pointe Drive and Aspen Way.

Drivers were encouraged to take alternate routes.

Police said the Henrico County Department of Public Utilities was working to address the issue.
