(WRIC) -- A water outage at Richmond International Airport (RIC) is estimated to impact around 8,500 passengers as Port-a-Potties are brought in and restaurants are closed down. 8News got the chance to speak with Troy Bell, a spokesperson from RIC, about specific impacts of the water outage that was announced earlier on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The potential passenger traffic could be around 8,500, according to Bell. "We have brought in Port-a-Potties," Bell said. "We have closed all airport restrooms. The restaurants are closed with the exception of pre-packaged items. We have established drinking water stations close to security at one location in Concourse A and one location in Concourse B." Given the recent severe winter weather, Bell also discussed how they will upkeep airline operations "We are expecting a tanker of water soon to support airline operations, particularly de-icing," Bell said.
