‘We’ll be ready’: Henrico welcomes Richmond’s faster timeline for water main repairs
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County is welcoming the City of Richmond's new and accelerated schedule to fix the broken water main beginning Sunday and continued on into early Monday.
On Thursday, May 29, a water main break that occurred on Canal and in between 7th and 8th Streets left many Henrico residents with low water pressure.
According to the press release from the county, Richmond has announced that crews will begin to repair the water main at 7th and Canal Streets at 10 p.m. on Sunday and the work is expected to be finished early Monday morning. Previously, the repairs were expected to start late Monday.
The work on the system is set to occur during a period of time in which water use is low across the system -- a station that receives water from the city and serves areas of eastern Henrico will temporarily be offline.

Bentley Chan, director of the Department of Public Utilities said, “We’ll be ready to go, Thanks to our residents limiting their use of public water, our reserve tanks are on target to be completely refilled later today. Because we’ll use these reserves while the city makes repairs, customers should see no disruption of water service while work is underway.”
The county said customers should see consistent water pressure, although it may remain slightly lower than normal, due to water flow in Richmond strengthening in the past few days.
To help limit the use of public water, Henrico has established drive through distribution sites in two locations. Residents can pick up bottled water -- one case per car at these two locations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.
