Winter storm expected to cause delays for Richmond’s household trash, bulk collections

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Due to the expected winter storm, Richmond residents may see delays in household trash and bulk collections next week.

City officials announced in the morning on Friday, Jan. 23, that due to this weekend's expected winter storm, there may be delays in household trash and bulk collections in Richmond next week.

"The safety of residents and collection crews is our top priority," said a city spokesperson in a press release.

The city has asked residents to take the following steps:

  • Please leave trash carts and bulk items at the curb until collection occurs
  • Avoid placing additional items in the road
  • Be cautious when traveling near service vehicles and snowplows

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work to safely resume normal collection services as weather conditions allow," the city said.
