Winter Wander 2025 returns to the Valentine
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A legacy event brought the holiday spirit to Richmond and highlighted the city's historical significance this weekend.
Winter Wander 2025 took place at The Valentine on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The annual event has been a holiday tradition for the past 40 years.
Organizers said the idea behind Winder Wander is to activate the streets and the neighborhood.
"It's really about bringing awareness to the community, celebrating the holidays, and it's an opportunity for people to get a behind-the-scenes look at some important Richmond history that they might not be able to otherwise," said Christina Swanson, director of public relations and marketing with The Valentine.
The event featured performances from organizations like the Richmond Ballet's Minds in Motion ambassadors and the Fox Elementary School Choir. Guests were also treated to refreshments, hot cocoa, cookies and family crafts.

Attendees had the opportunity to hop on a horse-drawn carriage and take a trolley around cultural and historic sites in the area, including the American Civil War Museum's White House of the Confederacy, the Poe Museum and Monumental Church.
This year, two local children's authors, Mary Burruss and Libby McNamee, were available at the event for a book signing. The event also featured goats in the garden in reference to Burruss's book, "Hooray for Goats."
"There's something new every year and there's something for everyone," Swanson said. "And it's free."
