Woman captures aftermath video of teen fight at Short Pump Town Center

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Midlothian woman shot a cell phone video of the aftermath of the large fight that broke out between teenagers at Short Pump Town Center on Saturday evening.

As Henrico investigators work to learn about the teen "takeover event" that occurred on Saturday evening at Short Pump Town Center, a Midlothian woman shot cell phone video showing the aftermath.

Susana Bickford recorded a video showing a young male being escorted from the mall by officers while she was with her family at dinner when the fight broke out.

Henrico Police responded to reports of teens fighting on Saturday around 7 p.m. Before the fight broke out, a "takeover event" between a large group of teens arrived at the mall.

The teens broke into smaller groups and started running around Short Pump Town Center. Police believe many of the teens were dropped off and left unsupervised.

The fighting caused Short Pump Town Center to close early on Saturday.

"I think my reaction was 'am I? Am I really seeing what I'm seeing?' I saw police running from the left going down the mall yelling 'active shooter, active shooter!'" Bickford said.

Henrico Police said no shots were fired, which came as a relief for Bickford.

The rumor of gunfire brought back bad memories of revolutionaries and political violence from her home country, Bolivia.

She hopes the incident will stir discussion about safety.

"America was safe compared to what we were coming from," Bickford said. "I think that's what's sad: to see the getting to the level that we are not really saving our own country shopping."
