Woman dead after being hit while riding electric scooter in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle while riding her electric scooter late Sunday evening.

The Chesterfield Police Department said the crash involving vehicle and an electric scooter took place at the intersection of Route 60 and Branchway Road at at 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman in the road.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she pronounced dead, according to police

The victim's identity is pending notification of next of kin.

Police said an initial investigation shows that a vehicle hit the electric scooter while both were traveling on Route 60.

"The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained on scene, and is cooperating with police," police wrote in a release.
