WRIC expands lifestyle programming with all-new ‘Showcase’ in September

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- WRIC is pleased to announce the launch of an expanded lifestyle show, coming to Channel 8 in September.

"Showcase" will air weekdays from 3 to 4 p.m., featuring community conversations, local flavor and everyday inspiration.

"Richmond is a community full of stories, ideas and people worth celebrating. Showcase is designed to put the spotlight where it belongs; on our neighbors, local businesses and organizations making a difference in our community," said Steve Blanchard, WRIC Vice President and General Manager. "Whether it’s a new restaurant, a non-profit changing lives or family friendly events around town, we want Showcase to be a place where viewers can turn to every day for inspiration and connection."

The show will be hosted by two familiar local media personalities -- Melissa Chase and Amie Carter.

Melissa Chase

Chase became a household name as a popular radio personality on Q94 (WRVQ) and 103.7 (WURV). She says she is now excited to return home to Richmond airwaves after her time in Houston.

"There’s truly no place like Richmond," Chase said. "This city is where my heart is, and I’m so excited to be sharing personal stories, pop culture trends and spotlighting all the good that’s happening around us with you on Showcase."

Amie Carter

Carter served as the face of "Showcase" in its previous iteration as abbreviated segments on WRIC. Before that, she co-anchored Good Morning Richmond for six years.

"Central Virginia has truly become home for me and my family, and I’ve experienced firsthand how much this community has to offer," Carter said. "I believe Showcase is more than just a television show — it’s an opportunity to celebrate the people, families, and organizations that make Richmond such a vibrant place to live. My hope is that every story we share will uplift, inspire, and reflect the faith and values that connect us as a community."

In addition to being broadcast on WRIC Channel 8, "Showcase" will also be livestreamed simultaneously on the WRIC+ app -- available on Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire.
