15-year-old girl identified as victim of deadly shooting in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 15-year-old girl has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting in Chesterfield County early Sunday morning.

At 12:22 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Pewter Avenue for a report of a person who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found a female victim, who appeared to be an adult, and a man who both had gunshot wounds in a vehicle.

Police said the female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who had life-threatening injuries, was taken to a local hospital. Both victims reportedly knew each other.

The female victim was identified by police as being a 15-year-old girl. Officials said her identity is being withheld pending consent of her family.

Police said the investigation so far indicates that the shooting is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
