HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 17-year-old boy was found dead in a backyard near an elementary school in Henrico County Monday morning. At 6:07 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were dispatched to the 3300 block of Reynolds Road near Harold Macon Ratcliffe Elementary School. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy in a backyard with significant trauma who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials continue to investigate the boy's death as a homicide. Police are working with Henrico County Public Schools, as the boy was found near the elementary school. 8News has reached out to the school division to find out any possible effects to the school day on Monday. Police said Reynolds Road will be closed between Thalen Street and Howard Street, and Thalen Street is closed between Reynolds Road and Howard Street to allow for the investigation.
