17-year-old Mecklenburg boy dies after single-vehicle crash in Amelia County

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 17-year-old boy from Mecklenburg County died after a single-vehicle crash in Amelia County Sunday evening.

At 8:44 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Pridesville Road, about one mile north of Amelia Avenue in Amelia County.

Police said a 17-year-old boy from the town of Clarksville in Mecklenburg County was driving a 2023 Dodge Hornet when the vehicle ran off the road, overturned and crashed.

The 17-year-old, who was wearing a seatbelt, died due to his injuries at the scene.

Three passengers in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

Police continue to investigate.
