19-year-old sentenced to 38 years in prison for Henrico murder
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 19-year-old has been sentenced to 38 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of a 30-year-old that took place in Henrico County last year.
This sentencing comes after 19-year-old Troy Vincent Charran Jr. was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony following the death of 30-year-old James Lawitz in 2024.
Lawitz was found dead in the side yard of a home after the Henrico County Police Division responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of South Cedar Avenue on Sept. 15, 2024.
Charran was arrested and charged shortly after Lawitz was found, and pleaded guilty to both offenses in a March hearing, according to online court records.
For the charge of second-degree murder, Charran was sentenced to 40 years with five years suspended. He will also serve three years for the charge of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, per court records.
