2 men accused of being armed and demanding entry to a hotel room arrested in Petersburg
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) – Two men were charged with weapons violations after they were allegedly armed and demanding entry to a hotel room in Petersburg. Around midnight on Thursday, Feb. 13, officers responded to a hotel in the 100 block of North Little Church Street. It was reported that two men were armed and demanding entry into a hotel room. According to police, when officers arrived at the scene and tried to approach the men, the suspects fled the scene. The suspects were arrested and identified as 47-year-old Raymond Ruffin and 35-year-old Lamar Raines. Both men were wanted and had outstanding warrants, Raines was wanted for multiple firearm violations and malicious wounding, Ruffin had a bench warrant for violation of a pretrial for murder. (Courtesy of Petersburg Bureau of Police) According to police, in addition to the outstanding warrants, Raines is now being charged with: Possession of a stolen firearm Obstruction of justice Possession of ammunition by a felon Conspiring to commit robbery Possession of a firearm by a felon Possession of a concealed weapon The additional charges for Ruffin are still pending, both men are being held without bond and their court appearance is pending.

According to police, in addition to the outstanding warrants, Raines is now being charged with:
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Obstruction of justice
- Possession of ammunition by a felon
- Conspiring to commit robbery
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of a concealed weapon
The additional charges for Ruffin are still pending, both men are being held without bond and their court appearance is pending.
