21-year-old man arrested after 2 injured in South Hill shooting
MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 21-year-old man is facing charges after police said he shot two people near an intersection in a Mecklenburg County neighborhood on Friday.
Just before 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27, officers with the South Hill Police Department responded to the area of Bryan St. near the intersection of W. Danville Street following reports of gunshots.
When they arrived, officers confirmed that two people had been shot.
One victim was treated locally and released, while the second victim was airlifted to a trauma center, according to police.
"Based on preliminary investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident," police wrote.
On Sunday, March 29, officers said that the suspect, 21-year-old Demaurion Edward Pettis, of La Crosse, was taken into custody.
He is facing two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
