24-year-old Richmond man charged with murder after deadly shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 24-year-old Richmond man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting in March.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers were patrolling in the Whitcomb Court area at 9:24 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, when they heard gunfire.

Not long after, a call for a person shot in the 2400 block of Carmine Street was received by the Department of Emergency Communications. When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Kanye Lewis on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

A suspect in the shooting, 24-year-old Rasheed Fleming, has been charged with murder and use of a firearm following an indictment by a grand jury on Monday, June 2.
