25-year-old Fluvanna man arrested, charged with child sex crimes
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 25-year-old Fluvanna County man was charged with multiple child sex crimes on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, as part of an "Internet Crimes Against Children" investigation, deputies and investigators with the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) executed multiple search warrants in the 3000 block of West River Road in the Scottsville area. These warrants were executed without incident and "electronic evidence" was seized, according to the sheriff's office. The suspect, 25-year-old Tyler Timothy Gregory, was arrested and charged with 1st-degree statutory sexual offense, 1st-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in the state of North Carolina. Gregory is currently being held without bond in Virginia on a warrant of extradition. According to FCSO, local efforts were supported by the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, the Albemarle County Police Department and the Louisa County Sheriff's Office -- which all acted as a part of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. While details on the exact nature of Gregory's crimes were not shared by FCSO, the Internet Crimes Against Children task force program focuses on investigating child sexual exploitation cases during an age where Internet access is commonplace. "These investigations can involve file-sharing of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), soliciting children for online or offline sexual encounters, production of CSAM (i.e., 'child pornography'), and child sex trafficking/prostitution," the task force said on its website.
