3OH!3 music duo speaks ahead of performance at Richmond’s Allianz Amphitheater

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Ahead of their performance at Richmond's Allianz Amphitheater on Tuesday, the 3OH!3 music duo spoke with 8News about their musical path and the "party atmosphere" they create.
3OH!3, known for hit electropop songs, some of which have featured the likes of Katy Perry and Kesha, will perform alongside Simple Plan, among other artists, at the Allianz Amphitheater in the evening on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
8News Producer Annie Gallo spoke with the duo, made up of Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Mott, ahead of their performance.
When asked how the pair would describe their music in three words, Foreman joked, "extreme synchronized swimming."
Foreman said his favorite song to perform is "Colorado Sunrise," because he enjoys the interpretive dance he often performs.
As for the pair's most memorable show, Mott mentioned a few in Virginia in the early 2000s that he still remembers, but that there may be too many to count.

"There've been so many down the road," Mott said. "We were just talking about shows in the Virginia area, from 2008 to 2010, and it's been almost 20 years and we still remember those, so we've just been fortunate to be able to do shows all around the country, all around the world."
Foreman said one of his most memorable shows was in 2016, when the duo performed in front of a massive crowd of sports fans.
"The Broncos won the Super Bowl one year, and we got to play the parade," Foreman said. "I think it was literally a million people downtown, that was insane."
Mott described the atmosphere of the shows that the pair likes to create, which comes down to ensuring a fun experience.
"Our shows are more about the collective and us curating a fun party than really a picture-perfect or sound-perfect performance," Mott said.
In addition, Foreman described the duo's experience performing on Van's Warped Tour this year, adding that although it has changed over the years, the fans' passion seems to remain the same.
"The shows and the energy of the people that come out are lifers, or people who tell us how many times they've seen us," Foreman said.
In terms of what fans can expect, Mott said it all comes down to creating a "party atmosphere."
