46-year-old man, pre-teen dead after crash in Caroline County
CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 46-year-old Fairfax County man and a pre-teen are dead following a crash in Caroline County Sunday evening.
At 3:48 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash that resulted in two deaths.
The crash reportedly occurred on eastbound Dawn Boulevard, about 700 feet east of Winston Loop in Caroline County.
According to police, a 2013 Chrysler van crossed the center line and hit a 2015 Mack truck that was heading west. The van then ran off the left side of the road and into the woods, where it hit a tree.
Both 46-year-old Alberio Samperio of the Annandale area of Fairfax County, and driver of the Chrysler, as well as an unidentified pre-teen who was sitting in the front passenger seat died at the scene, officials said.
Two additional juveniles who were sitting in the back of the van were flown by MedFlight for treatment of their injuries. Everyone inside the van was wearing seatbelts, according to police.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Police continue to investigate with assistance from the Virginia State Police Division I Crash Reconstruction Team.
