47-year-old man killed in Mecklenburg crash

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 47-year-old man is dead after a crash in Mecklenburg County on Thursday.

Virginia State Police said the crash took place just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the 6100 block of Highway 58 in Mecklenburg County.

According to police, a 1999 GMC Sierra was driving on U.S. Route 58 West near Sandy Fork Road when it went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch in the median and overturned.

The driver -- identified as 47-year-old Michael T. Finch of Virgilina in Halifax County -- was partially ejected and died at the scene, according to police.

Finch was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
