54-year-old man charged with murder after deadly Brunswick shooting

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 54-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting in Brunswick County late Saturday night.
Just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office were called to a shooting in the Cedar Grove Road area in Lawrenceville.
When deputies arrived, they found a man outside the home with a gunshot wound.
The victim -- identified as 25-year-old Ty’el Daveon Jones of Lawrenceville -- was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
In an initial investigation, deputies found that the shooting began as a verbal argument and a physical fight that quickly escalated to a deadly incident with multiple guns.
Investigators identified 54-year-old Tristan Gautier Bell as one of the people involved in the incident. Deputies executed a search warrant at Bell's home, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Bell has been charged with murder and was taken to the Meherrin River Regional Jail without bail.
Brunswick County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate and further charges are pending.
