54-year-old man wanted in multi-jurisdiction drug, gun charges arrested in Caroline

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man wanted in connection with drug and gun-related charges in two counties was found and arrested in Caroline County on Thursday.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, Caroline County Narcotics Investigators, with assistance from the Virginia State Police Tri-River Drug Task Force, conducted surveillance at the hotel in Gloucester County where 54-year-old John Lamont Stancil, of Milford, was believed to be staying.

Stancil was wanted on a Capias issued by the Caroline County General District Court for failure to appear in court to face charges of possession with intent to distribute prescription pills.

He was also wanted on a Capias issued by the Spotsylvania County Circuit Court related to drug and gun charges, according to the sheriff's office.

Stancil, who was wanted on outstanding warrants in both Caroline and Spotsylvania counties, was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, the sheriff's office said.

Stancil was transported to the Pamunkey Regional Jail, where he was served with his outstanding Capias warrants from both Caroline and Spotsylvania counties.

He is currently being held without bond.
