59-year-old man identified as cyclist hit, killed by train in Henrico County
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The cyclist who died after he was hit by a train at a crossing in Henrico County on Sunday has been identified by police. The cyclist has been identified as 59-year-old Marcell Eugene Morse of Richmond. At 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, the Henrico County Police Division and the Henrico County Fire Division responded to the railroad crossing on Hungary Road near Oakview Avenue for a reported crash where a cyclist was hit by a train. When officials arrived, they found Morse with obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that Morse was riding his bicycle across the train tracks while the crossing arms were down when he lost his balance and was then hit by the train. Another man he was with had crossed the tracks safely on foot and made it to the other side. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Officer T. Holmes at 804-501-5000.
