83-year-old Lynchburg man killed in Albemarle motorcycle crash identified

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An 83-year-old Lynchburg man has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a single-vehicle crash in Albemarle County on Friday, according to authorities.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, the Albemarle County Police Department identified the victim in a deadly motorcycle crash on Friday afternoon as 83-year-old James Tennant of Lynchburg.

Just after 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, crews with both the Albemarle County Police and Fire Rescue departments were called to northbound Monacan Trail Road in the area of Covesville Lane for report of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, since identified as Tennant, died at the scene, according to authorities.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
