8News gets a taste of Richmond Black Restaurant Experience in its 10th year

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests on Thursday to talk about the Richmond Black Restaurant Experience (RBRE), who provided some sample dishes to celebrate the city's Black culinary industry.

8News anchors Autumn Childress and Madison Moore were joined by Shemicia "Mimi" Bowen, co-owner of RBRE, and Mike Cox, with Trevor's Grill and Tavern, to discuss what people can expect as RBRE enters its 10th year.

"We're amplifying Black businesses in a way that they can collectively be supported," Bowen said. "And if nobody else is going to do it, who else but us?"

Cox brought several dishes from Trevor's Grill and Tavern, located at 4106 Williamsburg Road, including shrimp alfredo, club sandwiches, galaxy cake, wings and lamb chops.
