All of Henrico County under a boil water advisory
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County is under a boil water advisory effective immediately Wednesday afternoon. In an update provided by Henrico County at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, officials said the entire county is under a boil water advisory until further notice. This comes after the county reported water pressure issues on Tuesday, Jan. 7. County manager John Vithoulkas previously stated that the issues arose after the City of Richmond contacted them about a temporary failure at the city’s water treatment plant. While Henrico officials reportedly acted quickly to disconnect their water system from Richmond’s and reroute to their own water treatment plant, Vithoulkas said it took a number of hours for them to receive information from Richmond and they could not act as quickly as they wanted to. Early on Tuesday morning, after switching the county’s water system over, there was a major water main break in the county. Stay with 8News as we continue to update this story with more information.
