The county said expected construction dates will begin in spring 2025 and last throughout summer 2029.

"We’re committed to balancing progress with the needs of our community," said Sara Worley, Goochland County Director of Economic Development. "The improvements will not only enhance the Corridor's infrastructure but also invest in a prosperous future for our residents, businesses, and visitors."

The Temporary Ashland Road/I-64 Interchange Improvements and the Project Rocky Ashland Road Improvements are both fully funded by Project Rocky. Similarly, the AXIAL Rockville 64 Ashland Road Improvements are entirely funded by AXIAL Rockville 64.

“We appreciate the significant investment our project partners have made in our community and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts,” Worley said.

Drivers are advised be cautious of road work that will be taking place in the area to reduce disruptions in construction. Below are a few traffic changes that can be expected in the process:

  • During the daytime, drivers may experience brief impacts in traffic
  • Nighttime closures to work around construction
  • One-lane closures with flaggers to navigate drivers through traffic during work hours

Goochland County recommends residents, visitors and businesses to stay updated and get involved in the process of construction. To learn more about the Rockville Corridor Improvements on Ashland Road, click here.
