At least two students injured in crash involving Hanover school bus
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- At least two students were injured in a crash involving a Hanover County Public School (HCPS) bus on Friday morning.
According to a spokesperson with HCPS, a crash involving a school bus serving students from Mechanicsville High School and Bell Creek Middle School occurred at the intersection of Cold Harbor Road and Lee Davis Road in Hanover County on the morning of Friday, Oct. 17.
The school spokesperson said the bus was carrying 15 students.
The Hanover County Sheriff's Office spokesperson added that at least one student was taken to VCU Medical Center out of precaution due to a head injury, with one juvenile complaining of back pain.
Two Transportation Department administrators, a principal and a safety specialist are also on the scene of the crash, according to a school division spokesperson.
"Parents are being contacted and some have already picked their child up from the scene," the school spokesperson said.
A replacement bus will pick up the rest of the students, complete the bus route and transport them to school.
The crash remains under investigation, according to authorities.
