Bar fight over a woman escalates to gunfire, 5 people shot, 1 fighting for his life

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One man remains on the run after shooting five people at a pub in Chesterfield County around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 26. 8News went to Shamrock Pub -- the scene of the crime -- Monday morning. While the pub was closed off to the public, "open" signs lined the remainder of Robious Hall Shopping Center. Our team spoke with Allisa Rogers at a laundromat right next door to the bar. She lives in Midlothian and frequents the area to do laundry. "I come here weekly," Rogers remarked after hearing about Sunday night's shooting. She hadn't heard about the incident prior to her morning errand. "I am totally shocked," Rogers said. "It makes me a little uncomfortable. I would not have thought that that would even occur in this area." 8News also spoke with Captain Randy Horowitz with the Chesterfield County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division Monday afternoon to learn more about the status of the investigation. "We determined that the two male subjects that were in the bar got into a disturbance over a female patron at the bar." He added that the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot at the other man, but hit four innocent bystanders, in addition to his quote "intended target." The man the suspect intended to shoot is in stable condition at a hospital nearby, but is still battling life-threatening injuries. "Unfortunately, people are far too quick to use physical force and weapons to solve problems," Capt. Horowitz said. "You know, we encourage everyone to use your words and, if not, you can walk away." This is an active investigation, so investigators ask anyone with any information to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251. Even though the suspect has not been arrested yet, police told 8News that they do not believe anyone in the area is in danger.
