Boil water advisory lifted for Louisa residents after water main break

Boil water advisory lifted for Louisa residents after water main break

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The boil water advisory issued for a part of Louisa County has been lifted as of midday Saturday.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Blue Ridge Health District, as well as the county Louisa County Water Authority lifted the boil water advisory for residents in the Northeast Creek area.

On Wednesday, May 14, a boil water advisory was issued for residents served by the county’s Water Authority Northeast Creek following a water main break on Jefferson Highway.

A boil water advisory was issued on Wednesday, July 30, after loss of pressure in the water distribution system

Out of an abundance of caution, some residents in the area of the break were asked to boil water before using it.

According to the county, the boil water advisory was lifted on Saturday following two days of testing, which indicated that the pressure loss did not cause any bacteria to enter the water system.

This is not the first boil water advisory issued to Louisa residents this year. On Wednesday, May 14, the county was issued a boil water advisory, which caused a pressure loss in the water distribution system. The advisory was lifted two days later, on the afternoon of Friday, May 16.
