Boil water notice lifted for some King William residents after line break
KING WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A boil water notice for some King William County residents has been lifted as of Thursday afternoon after a water line break occurred three days earlier.
In the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 14, King William County shared that after sending results back from the lab for two rounds of testing, all samples came back negative for bacteria. As a result, the county said it can lift the boil water notice and customers can return to normal water usage.
On Monday, Aug. 11, the county announced that about 40 customers were without services, but due to the severity of the issue, crews were unsure when services would be restored. At the time, they said the staff was working to get emergency contractors on site.
Later that Monday, King William said the water line break in McCaulley Park had been repaired.
The county took the first round of samples on Monday, and a second one 16 hours later on Tuesday, Aug. 12, per the Office of Driving Waters Regulations.
The news comes two weeks after a boil water advisory was issued for some King William residents served by the Cedar Crest Water System on July 29 following a water main break on Pleasant View Drive. Two days later, that advisory was lifted on July 31.
