Bomb threat reported at UVA’s Shannon Library, prompts evacuation

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) -- A bomb threat has been reported at the University of Virginia's (UVA) Shannon Library Friday morning, prompting an evacuation of the building.

At 10:49 a.m. on Friday, March 13, the UVA Department of Safety and Security sent out an emergency alert regarding the library, located at 160 McCormick Road.

As of 11:16 a.m., officials said University Police are on scene investigating and evacuating Shannon Library as well as Clemons Library. Authorities are urging people to avoid the area.
