Budweiser Clydesdales to make stops in Richmond this week

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, which have been an integral part of Anheuser-Busch's heritage and tradition for nearly 100 years, are coming to Central Virginia later this week.

The Budweiser Clydesdales, best known for their role in the iconic Budweiser beer commercials -- the No. 1 Super Bowl Commercial this year -- are making their way to Richmond on Thursday, April 3, to Saturday, April 5.

Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdales hitch must be at least 3 years old, be about six feet tall, weigh about 2,000 pounds, be bay in color, have four white legs and a blaze
of white on the face with a black mane and tail, according to officials.

Set-up for each hitch will begin at 3 p.m. and community residents can check out the Budweiser Clydesdales for the following schedule:

  • Thursday, April 3 at 4 p.m.: Historic Old Towne in Petersburg, in the parking lot at the intersection of Adams Street and E. Bank Street. The hitch will start its trip around Old Towne Petersburg at 4 p.m.
  • Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m.: Westchester Commons located at 15786 WC Main Street in Midlothian. The hitch will start its trip around West Chester Commons at 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 5 at 4 p.m.: Carytown Shopping District located at W. Cary Street in Richmond. The hitch will start its trip down Carytown at 4 p.m.

Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian.
