Caroline County Sheriff’s Office investigate series of vehicle break-ins, gun thefts

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Caroline County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and gun thefts in two neighborhoods.
Officials announced this week that they are working to find the suspects in vehicle break-ins that occurred during the overnight hours in the Glen Meadows neighborhood of Ladysmith.
Per the sheriff's office, video of the suspects caught on home security video has been circulating. They appear to be carrying firearms, entering unlocked vehicles and trying to steal items.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, deputies with the Caroline County Sheriff's office received reports of two firearms stolen in the Campbell’s Creek neighborhood, located across Route 1 from Glen Meadows.
"We take these cases very seriously, especially since we believe firearms were involved. I am very thankful nobody was injured, as this was a very dangerous situation," Sheriff Scott Moser said. "We urge all residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables, particularly firearms, from unattended vehicles. Keeping vehicles locked and well-lit can keep you from becoming a victim of these crimes.”
Investigators believe the incidents are connected and began investigating as soon as reports came in, according to the sheriff's office.
