Central Virginia Waste Management starts collections earlier ahead of winter storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) will start its Wednesday, Feb. 19, collections service earlier than normal this week to get ahead of the winter storm headed to the area.

According to CVWMA's website, customers who are scheduled for collections on Wednesday, Feb. 19, are being asked to put their materials out tonight for pick-up.

This will include "Red Wednesday" curbside recyclers in Richmond, Henrico County, Hopewell and Petersburg. Additionally, Wednesday trash customers in Colonial Heights and Hopewell will also be affected.

Crews may need to halt collections midday as the snow progresses. CVWMA requests that customers leave their containers out until they are collected.
